Cedar Rapids River Kings News Release

Cedar Rapids, IA: The Titans announced major changes to the team's football operations department highlighted by the hiring of the Indoor Football League's 2016 Coach of the Year, Billy Back and the promotion of Hawkeye's all time wide receiver Marvin McNutt to General Manager.

Back becomes the Titans 4th head coach after spending the past two seasons with the Wichita Falls Nighthawks. Over his two year span with Wichita Falls he finished with a 23-9 record including guiding the Nighthawks to the team's first playoff appearance in 2016.

The ten year coaching veteran has an impressive resume that includes four championship seasons and a record of 105 wins with only 36 losses. Prior to becoming the head coach of the Cincinnati Commandos in 2010, Coach Back spent six seasons playing indoor football in the NIFL, CIFL, AF2 and the IFL. In 2006, Back led the NIFL in all-purpose yards while being named the league's player of the week on three separate occasions.

McNutt who was the Titans head coach in 2017 has been promoted to the team's General Manager position. In his new role he will oversee the football operations department and take a larger role in the team's front office. A major component of his position will be to continue to build strong relationships for the Titans with major division 1 college programs along with enhancing the Titans & Rampage's role in the community by building strategic partnerships.

The former Carolina Panther will also play a major role on the team's coaching staff working with Coach Back in the development of the team's wide receiver corps and offensive schemes. McNutt was a major factor in the success of wide receivers Damond Powell & Connor Hollenbeck in 2017.

The team plans to hold a joint meet & greet later this week for fans, sponsors, and the media to meet Coach Back and congratulate Marvin on his new position.

The Titans will begin the team's 7th Indoor Football League season this February at the U.S. Cellular Center. The team's 2018 schedule will be released in the coming weeks. The team is currently contacting 2017 season tickets holders to secure their 2017 seats for the 2018 season.
