BOISE, ID: The Boise Hawks, Northwest League affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, along with the Colorado Rockies, have announced their 2017 Field Staff. 2016 Hawks Hitting Coach Scott Little has returned to Boise as Manager. Little's staff will be rounded out with Mike Deveraux (Coach), Robinson Cancel (Coach), Bob Apodaca (Pitching Coach), Fred Nelson (Development Supervisor) and Mickey Clarizio (Trainer).

"We are thrilled to welcome Scott as our 2017 Manager and his staff. While they are in Scottsdale training his team for the upcoming Northwest League season, our staff is hard at work getting ready for our 30th Anniversary." stated Hawks General Manager Bob Flannery.

Scott Little starts his second season with the Rockies organization (and second in the Treasure Valley, serving as Hitting Coach in 2016) after serving as an amateur scout for the Los Angeles Dodgers for the previous seven years. Little has coached and managed in the Minor Leagues for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Los Angeles Dodgers, Washington Nationals and Texas Rangers. Scott also played professionally for eight seasons in the New York Mets and Pittsburgh Pirates organizations.

Mike Devereaux begins his sixth season in the Rockies organization, last season serving as the Asheville Tourists (South Atlantic League, Single A) Hitting Coach. The Casper, WY native played 12 seasons in the major leagues with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Baltimore Orioles, Chicago White Sox, Atlanta Braves, and Texas Rangers. With the Braves in 1995, Devereaux was named Most Valuable Player of the National League Championship Series.

Robinson Cancel begins his first season in the Rockies organization as Coach. During his playing career, Cancel shared time with the Milwaukee Brewers, New York Mets, and Houston Astros. Cancel spent the 2015 season as the Manager for the Golf Coast League Braves (Atlanta Braves.)

Bob Apodaca enters his 45th year overall in professional baseball, this his first in Boise. Last season, Apodaca was with Colorado in his fourth year as the Assistant Pitching Coordinator. From 2003 to 2012, Apodaca served as the Rockies Pitching Coach. Apodaca spent 30 years in the New York Mets system, serving as New York Mets Pitching Coach from 1996 to 1999.

Fred Nelson returns to Boise for his third season (fifth with the Rockies) as a supervisor of development after spending 27 seasons in the Houston Astros organization, most recently as Director of Player Development. Nelson managed three seasons at Short-Season Niagara Falls from 1982 to 1984, served as head coach at the University of Missouri-Saint Louis (1973 to 1975), and head baseball coach at Scottsdale Community College (1975 to 1984).

Mickey Clarizio will also be returning to the Treasure Valley for his third season serving as Trainer.

Their combined years of experience paired with their character and leadership will be an asset to our players and the Boise community." said Zach Wilson, Senior Director of Player Development for the Rockies.

The Hawks' will be celebrating their 30th anniversary of professional baseball in the Treasure Valley this year. The Hawks' home schedule begins on Tuesday, June 20th against the Eugene Emeralds.
