Flyers To Hold Open Tryouts March 20

ANAHEIM, Calif. (March 3, 2010) - The Orange County Flyers have announced a location for the team's open tryout on Saturday March 20. The tryout will be held at Concordia University (1530 Concordia West, Irvine, CA 92612) for a chance to be invited to the Flyers' 2010 training camp in May. Check-in begins at 7:30am for position players and 12pm for pitchers. The tryout officially begins at 8:30am.

The Flyers are preparing for their sixth season of professional baseball in Orange County, with home games played at The Station at Goodwin Field on the campus of Cal State Fullerton. New manager Paul Abbott is looking for talented players to help the club return to the playoffs in an attempt to become the Golden Baseball League's first two-time champion.

"There's always hidden talent just waiting to be found," Abbott said. "Maybe it's a guy who's been released from affiliated ball, or a former college player who still has what it takes. I think we'll be able to find a few guys worthy of coming to camp with us."

Early registration is $110, and walk-up registration is $125. All players trying out with be provided with a complimentary lunch courtesy of Mikey's Sports Bar in Fullerton. Participants should be at least 18 years old.

The Flyers' season begins May 21 at St. George, and the team opens at home on Tuesday, June 15 against the 2009 champion Calgary Vipers in a match up the past two GBL champions.
