Flight Soar Past Patriots

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., February 7, 2005 – The Huntsville Flight had all five starters score in double-figures as they soared past the Fayetteville Patriots 103-82 in National Basketball Development League action at the Von Braun Center arena.
Leading 20-18 to start the second quarter, the Flight outscored the Patriots by eleven points in the second quarter to break the game open. Flight forward Damone Brown scored 11 of his game-high 19 points in the decisive quarter. Huntsville pushed the lead as high as 27 in the third quarter before turning the game over to the bench in the fourth.
The Huntsville win, coupled with a Columbus loss to Roanoke, moved the Flight to17-10, just one game behind first-place Columbus. The road woes continued for the Patriots, as they fell to 1-13 away from home, and 9-20 overall.
Rodney Bias had 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Earl Barron had 11 points and 11 boards for the Flight. Jason Miskiri chipped in 16 points, while Antoine Pettway had a game-high 10 assists.
Ernest BrownÂ’s 17 led five Patriots in double-figure scoring. Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje had 10 points and 13 rebounds, and Jon Smith added 15 points off the bench.
The Flight travel to Asheville to take on the Altitude tomorrow night, while Fayetteville returns home to host Columbus Thursday night.
