Flight Sets 2002 Opening Day Roster

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., November 13, 2002 – Huntsville Flight head coach Ralph Lewis today set his 10-man roster for the opening of the National Basketball Development League season which begins Friday at Roanoke.

Flight returnees Eric Chenowith (C, 7-1, 270), Michael Wilks (G, 5-11, 180) and Lonnie Harrell (F, 6-7, 200) return to highlight the squad. Other members taken in the 2002 NBDL Draft include Bakari Hendrix (F, 6-8, 230), Brandon Williams (G/F, 6-6, 215), LaVall Jordan (G, 6-2, 190), Marcus Fleming (F, 6-8, 215), along with allocation player Rodney Bias (F, 6-9, 240) and local tryout signee Demetric Shaw (G, 6-2, 190).

Per league rules, the Flight had to release five players to the mandated 10 players and those individuals included guard Terrance "Doc" Martin (6-3, 205), forwards Gyasi Cline-Heard (6-8, 230) and Tyrone Mack (6-5, 215) and centers Rashid Hardwick (7-0, 221) and Kevin Shand (6-10, 270).

The Flight begins their season with a 6 pm CST time contest at the Roanoke Civic Center against the Dazzle. Huntsville continues its two-game road swing Saturday with a 6:15 pm CST contest at the Asheville Altitude.

The home portion of the FlightÂ’s 2002-03 schedule starts five days later on Thu., Nov. 21, when they take on North Charleston in a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.

Fans can purchase season ticket packages, individual game and group tickets for Huntsville Flight games at the Von Braun Center now by calling (256) 429-1000. Single game tickets are available in the following price ranges: $5 upper bowl childrenÂ’s tickets for those 12 years and younger, $10, $15 and $20.
