Charleston Lowgators News Release

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Nov. 21, 2002) - Lonnie Harrell scored a game-high 20 points to lead Huntsville to a 91-76 victory here Thursday night at the Von Braun Center in a battle of the final unbeaten National Basketball Development League teams.

The Flight improved to 3-0 on the season as Bakari Hendrix added 16 for Huntsville and Rodney Bias contributed with 13 points off the bench.

The Lowgators, fresh off a 111-109 triple-overtime win at home Wednesday night, fell to 3-1. Damone Brown led North Charleston with 15 points, along with Sedric Webber's 14 points and Thad Delaney's 12.

"It was a big game for us with it being the two undefeated teams in the league and two teams with a lot of pride," Ralph Lewis said. "They played last night in a triple overtime game, but not to take anything away from our guys, because I thought we played well tonight."

The Flight grabbed the early lead and never relinquished control of the game despite several Lowgators charges late in the contest.

North Charleston coach Doug Marty, who saw his team battle for 55 minutes of basketball the night before at home, downplayed the significance of playing on consecutive night.

"No excuses," Marty said. "You have to play back-to-back (days) in this league and come to play every night. We have to be more competitive heading towards the weekend."

The two teams return to action against each other Saturday with a 7 p.m. EST contest at the North Charleston Coliseum.
