February 16, 2013 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) - Rio Grande Valley Flash
HIDALGO, Texas - In game that featured over 30 fouls, the Rio Grande Valley Flash defeated the Chicago Mustangs by a score of 8-5 at State Farm Arena on Friday night.
The Flash used the four-goal performance of Erick Flores and took his personal tally to 21 goals in the season. Flores scored the opening goal of the match for the Flash with the first couple of minutes and from there the game took its course.
Armando Teran scored the next goal, which made it 2-0 over the Mustangs. The Mustangs replied with a power play by Miguel Vaca, which made it a 2-1 game.
The Flash (11-4) scored a pair of goals in the second quarter that included a power play by Flores, which was his second of the game and made it 4-1 game.
The Mustangs (11-5) scored a second power play goal by Omar Santillan, which made it a 4-2 game at the half. Chicago would score two goals after the intermission to tie up the game at four.
The teams would trade goals going into the fourth quarter which made it a five all game when the Flash scored three times including the final two goals of Flores, the second coming off a penalty power play goal. At that point, it was a 7-5 game in favor of the Flash.
Edgar Martinez added the final goal, which wrapped up the scoring for the Flash and the 8-5 final. The victory for the Flash propelled them to second place and could wrap up second place in the second place in the Central Division of the PASL.
The next game for the Flash is on the road to take on the Texas Strikers at the Ford Arena in Beaumont, Texas with the kickoff set for 7:05 pm.
