Flash Push Win Streak to Three

Sioux Falls, S.D. (Dec. 18) - The Utah Flash defeated the Sioux Falls Skyforce 98-97 at the Sioux Falls Arena on Saturday night. Utah only trailed once in the game and held off a furious Sioux Falls rally to complete the weekend sweep.

Anthony Mason, Jr. made a lay-up to give Sioux Falls (2-9) a 2-0 lead but it would be their only lead of the game. Utah (7-5) led 52-46 at halftime behind 17 points from Orien Greene.

Utah led by as many as 13 points in the third quarter but Sioux Falls went on a 7-1 spurt to end the quarter and only trailed by seven points (76-69) heading into the final quarter. Keaton Grant made a 3-pointer early in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to four points but Utah responded with seven straight points to push the lead to double digits (83-72). Chris McCray converted a lay-up to get the Skyforce within one point (91-90) with two minutes to go in the contest but Kevin Kruger hit a shot clock buzzer-beating 3-pointer to make it a two-possession game. Sioux Falls had chance to win the game in the final seconds but Leemire Goldwire missed a contested 3-pointer at the buzzer as Sioux Falls dropped their third straight home game.

All five Utah starters reached double figures led by Greene and Kruger with 22 and 19 points, respectively. Brandon Costner (14 points, 10 rebounds) and Bennet Davis (10 points, 10 rebounds) each recorded double-doubles.

Miami HEAT assignee Dexter Pittman just missed his second consecutive double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds. Mason, Jr. added 18 points while Goldwire scored 16 of the team's 20 bench points.

Sioux Falls hosts Dakota in the annual Christmas Night game at 7 p.m. CT. Utah returns to action in two weeks when they host Bakersfield on New Year's Day at 7 p.m. MT. The Flash play again on January 1, 2011 at the UCCU Center.
