Utah Flash News Release

Tulsa, Okla., November 28, 2009 - Despite having four starters in double figures the Utah Flash fell to the Tulsa 66ers 98-87 on the second game of a back to back in Oklahoma.

"We played well enough to put us in a position to win in the fourth quarter, but when it came down to it we just couldn't execute," said Flash head coach Brad Jones.

The 66ers held the Flash to shooting 7-for-19 from the field in the first quarter, and outrebounded Utah 16-6 in the period. Luke Nevill's six points in the period kept the Flash within striking distance, at 17-24 at the end of the first quarter.

Tulsa pushed their lead to ten points at 29-19 after a Keith Clark lay-up, but the Flash battled back to cut the 66ers lead to 44-42 at the half. Gavin Grant led the charge in the second quarter for the Flash, scoring eight of his 17 points in the period.

Both teams battled down the stretch in the fourth quarter, tied at 75 with 7:01 left in the fourth quarter. But aided by three critical turnovers by the Flash, the 66ers then went on a 23-12 run to take a 98-85 lead with less than a minute remaining.

"We competed for 48 minutes," 66ers Head Coach Nate Tibbetts said. "And we did a lot better job of doing the little things that make the difference for us."

Including Shakur, Tulsa finished with five players scoring in double-figures. Oklahoma City Thunder assignee Byron Mullens had his second straight double-double of the season with a 15 point, 17 rebound effort. Moses Ehambe and Cecil Brown scored 17 points each, while Larry Owens chipped in 15 points and seven boards.

Led by Jefferson, the Flash finished with four players scoring in double-figures. Gavin Grant had 17 points, while Carlos Wheeler finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Nevill had 12 points in the game.

Tulsa (1-1) travels to Austin for a back-to-back set with the Toros on Dec. 1 and 2, both games tip-off at 7:30 pm CST. The 66ers then head to Rio Grande Valley on Friday, Dec. 4 before returning home the next night to face the Vipers at 7 pm.

Utah (1-1) continues their road trip at Los Angeles on Tuesday, Dec. 1 before heading to Bakersfield on Dec. 3 and 5.
