Flames Recall Brett Carson from Abbotsford

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Flames announced today that they have recalled defenseman Brett Carson from the Abbotsford Heat from the American Hockey League.

Carson has played 26 games with the Heat this season tying his career high with six goals and adding five assists for 11 points and 16 penalty minutes. He has played eight games with the Flames over two seasons and has played 80 career NHL games netting two goals and 10 assists for 12 points and 20 penalty minutes.

The Calgary Flames have also put defenseman Derek Smith on injured reserve due to a knee injury sustained on April 1st in Edmonton. Additionally, Mark Giordano will not travel to San Jose due to his wife's pregnancy and the imminent birth of their first child.
