Flame announce National Anthem tryout

FORT MYERS, Fla., November 15 - The Florida Flame, presented by Century 21 Sunbelt Realty, will hold a national anthem contest at the Germain Arena in Estero, Florida on Saturday, November 26 at 2:00 p.m. The talent search, open to children and adults of all ages, is being conducted to select its roster of national anthem singers for the 2005-2006 Florida Flame season. Contestants should audition the national anthem in traditional style (solo or group). Musicians may also audition an instrumental version (solo or group). All contestants should also list on their registration form any other patriotic songs they can perform as well as other performance talents.

Pre-registration will take place on the following dates and locations:

Sunday, November 20 The Omni Club in Fort Myers 2:00 p.m. -- 3:00 p.m.

Friday, November 25 Germain Arena 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, November 26 Germain Arena 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Registration on November 26 is $25 for a solo audition and $10 per person for groups. Solo contestants who register before November 26 will save $5 off the $25 registration fee, receive a ticket voucher for the November 26 Florida Flame game, and a 50 percent discount on the choice of a celebrity judge's CD (while supplies last).

Celebrity recording artists George Huff and Natalie will serve on the judges panel for the national anthem contest. The number five ranked contestant on FOX's smash-hit television show, American Idol, Huff toured 50 cities on the 2004 FOX American Idol Tour and is currently touring following the release of his new album entitled "Miracles." Natalie, a rising star in the music world, is well known for her smash hits "Energy" and "Going Crazy." The former Houston Rockets dance team member and Latium Universal recording artist, is also the face for Zalia Cosmetics, a new cosmetic line designed especially for Latin women.

From their judging of the contest, Huff and Natalie's top pick will sing the national anthem at the Flame game versus Roanoke on Saturday night, November 26. In addition the winner will receive free Flame merchandise, a VIP backstage pass for Saturday night's post-game concert, four Flame season tickets, and an autographed basketball signed by Flame players and Head Coach Jeff Malone.

Huff will sing the national anthem at the Flame's season opener Friday night, November 25, while Natalie will be featured in the post-game concert. Huff will entertain the Flame fans Saturday night in the featured post-game concert.

On Friday, November 25 the Flame open their D-League campaign against the Roanoke Dazzle at 7 p.m.. In addition to Huff's national anthem and Natalie's post-game concert performance, the night will also be highlighted by an appearance from cartoon character, Chucky, from the popular kids show "The Rugrats", who will be available to sign autographs and take photos with all kids in attendance. The halftime show features popular NBA halftime act, Quick Change, which will present an amazing dance and magic performance for all Flame fans. The Flame's Saturday, November 26 contest versus Roanoke also features a halftime exhibition from the high-flying Miami Heat "Xtreme Team". Single-game tickets are now available at the Germain Arena box office and all Ticketmaster outlets, including Specs Music stores. The Florida Flame is the official D-League affiliate of the NBA's Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Orlando Magic.
