Great Falls Voyagers News Release
Great Falls, MT-The Pioneer League of Professional Baseball has announced its end-of-season all-star team, and five Voyagers have received recognition for the 2016 season.
Great Falls had the highest number of recipients from any of the eight teams in the league. The Voyagers filled four of the five slots allocated for pitchers. Starters Aron McRee, Alec Hansen, Chris Comito, and Yosmer Solorzano were all honored. Outfielder Aaron Schnurbusch was the only position player for Great Falls named to the team.
McRee is 5-0 and currently leads the league in ERA at 2.16. His ERA is the only one in the top 10 that sits under three. McRee signed with the White Sox as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Montevallo. Hansen, the White Sox 2nd round draft pick out of Oklahoma, finished the regular season with Kannapolis after going 2-0 with a 1.23 ERA in seven starts for Great Falls. Comito is 7-1 with the Voyagers and ranks third in ERA at 3.73. Comito was drafted in the 15th round in 2015 out of Norwalk High School in Iowa. Solorzano leads the league in wins with a 9-3 mark and is fifth in ERA at 4.11. Solorzano has been involved in two no-hitters this season. He pitched seven innings in a combined no-hitter August 20th against Helena, and went all five innings in a rain-shortened no-hitter September 4th against Missoula. Solorzano, a native of Venezuela, also has the only complete games in the league this season. Schnurbusch leads the league in both on-base percentage and walks, and ranks third in hitting with a .356 average. Schnurbusch was drafted this year in the 28th round out of the University of Pittsburgh.
Great Falls closes out the regular season with a three-game series at Missoula Tuesday through Thursday. The Voyagers then return home to open the best-of-three divisional playoff round against Billings Friday at Centene Stadium. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. For ticket information, visit www.gfvoyagers.com or phone 406-452-5311.
