Five Tigers Headed to 2016 NYPL All-Star Game

NORWICH, CT - The Connecticut Tigers are sending five members of their team to the 2016 New York-Penn League All-Star Game. The five Tigers will play on the North Team on August 16th at Hudson Valley, NY.
The five Tigers selected consisted of outfielders Cole Bauml and Joey Havrilak, first basemen Blaise Salter, catcher Austin Athmann and left-handed pitcher Locke St. John.
Cole Bauml is in his second professional season after being drafted in the 10th round of the MLB Draft in 2015. Bauml has been a consistent cog at the top of the Tigers order. Bauml is hitting .295 for the Tigers which ranks 10th in the New York-Penn League. Bauml has racked up 11 doubles, 2 HR's and driven in 21 runs.
Joey Havrilak was one of the hottest hitters to open the season in the New York-Penn League. Havrilak is hitting .273 this year with 9 doubles, 2 triples, 3 HR's and 22 RBI's. Havrilak heads towards the All-Star break in the midst of a torrid stretch. He is hitting .433 (13-30) in his last eight games. Havrilak is also near the tops in the league in walks drawn. He has walked 26 times, 3rd in the NYPL.
Blaise Salter is one of the top RBI hitters in the league, his 29 RBI's ranks in the top 5. Salter is hitting .273 with 9 doubles, 3 HR's. The Tigers first basemen is also in the top 5 in the league in games played with 45 this season.
Austin Athmann gets All-Star recognition in his first professional season. Athmann is a 14th round pick this year out of Minnesota. Athmann has settled into his role with the Tigers, hitting .266 with 4 doubles, 1 triple and 2 dingers. Athmann has played his best baseball as the season has carried forward. Athmann has hit safely in 11 of his last 13 games and that includes 3 of his doubles, a triples, both home runs and 7 RBI's.
Locke St. John is the only Connecticut pitcher to make the team. St. John has pitched himself into the top 10 in ERA in the NYPL. St. John has a 3-5 record with a 2.26 ERA as he earns the All-Star nod. St. John is amongst the leaders in innings pitched with 51.2 innings. St. John in his last start pitched seven innings and only allowing one run against Vermont in a winning effort.
The Connecticut Tigers are the New York-Penn League affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and play a 76 game schedule that runs from mid-June through early September. 2016 season tickets, group tickets, mini plans, individual game tickets, and team merchandise are now on sale!
