Memphis Redbirds News Release

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico - Despite three home runs in the game, the Memphis Redbirds dropped game two of a four-game series with the Albuquerque Isotopes (Triple-A Rockies), 10-5, Friday night in Albuquerque.

Jeremy Hazelbaker, Dean Anna and David Washington homered for the Redbirds (45-46), who have lost back-to-back games since resuming play after the All-Star Break after winning five-straight prior to that. Memphis also saw doubles from Jacob Wilson and Matt Williams and a triple from Harrison Bader.

Albuquerque (39-53) has won five-straight games and banged out 13 hits against the Redbirds after having 17 in the series opener Thursday night.

Hazelbaker hit his first home run for the Redbirds with two outs in the top of the first, and the Isotopes scored two in the bottom of the second to take a 2-1 lead into the fourth. Memphis plated three runs in the fourth inning, including Anna's second homer of the season, and regained a 4-2 advantage.

But the Isotopes scored five in the bottom-half off Jerome Williams, who allowed seven runs on 10 hits in 5.0 innings. Albuquerque added two more in the sixth without the benefit of a hit against Juan Gonzalez, and Washington provided the last Memphis run of the night in the seventh with his 15th home run for the Redbirds.

Washington's 20 home runs between Memphis and Double-A Springfield lead the St. Louis Cardinals organization.

Miguel Socolovich pitched a perfect seventh inning, and Dean Kiekhefer gave up a run on three hits in the eighth to bring the game to its final score of 10-5.

Memphis left eight runners on base after leaving 13 on base in Thursday's series opener.

The Redbirds have two more games in Albuquerque before heading to El Paso for four contests Monday-Thursday. Memphis is back at AutoZone Park for eight games against Iowa and Oklahoma City starting next Friday, July 22.
