Five more Phillies sent to minor league camp
OTTAWA - For the second Monday in a row, the Philadelphia Phillies have assigned a group of players to Minor League camp.
Two players were optioned to minor league camp: infielder Danny Sandoval and righthander Brian Sanches and three players were re-assigned to minor league camp: righthanders Ryan Cameron and Kane Davis and first baseman Randall Simon. The moves leave the Phillies with 40 players remaining in camp.
The most recognizable name on this list is first baseman Randall Simon, 31. Simon, a native of Curacao, represented the Netherlands in last year's World Baseball Classic. Simon has played more than 500 Major League games with Atlanta, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Chicago and Tampa Bay. He also played 23 games for the Phillies last season. Simon's a career .283 hitter in the Majors with 49 home runs and 237 runs batted in.

Sandoval is a career .281 hitter in ten Minor League seasons.
Brian Sanches, 28, is a veteran of eight professional seasons. Last year, with the Phillies' Triple-A affiliate in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Sanches went 3-2 with a 1.85 ERA over 36 games, all in relief. His stellar season earned him his first big-league call-up, going 0-0 with a 5.91 ERA in 18 games with the Phillies.
Ryan Cameron, 29, spent all of last season with the Phillies' Triple-A affiliate in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, posting a 6-2 record and a 3.19 ERA almost exclusively out of the bullpen.
