Portland, ME- One night after playing 13 innings in a 6-5 loss at Connecticut, the Fisher Cats fell 3-2 at Portland in 14 innings. The 4-hour and 17 minute affair was the longest game played this season, and ended on a Ryan Kalish walk-off home run off reliever Nate Starner.

Starner (1-2) entered the game in the 11th inning, and did not allow a hit before Kalish popped down the right field line landing just over the fence. He struck out five batters and the Fisher Cats struck out 15 in the game.

Josh Papelbon (1-0), in his second Eastern League appearance, worked three shutout innings to earn the win for the Sea Dogs. The 25-year old is the younger brother of Red Sox pitcher Jonathan Papelbon and was promoted to Portland on August 31.

For the second straight day, the Fisher Cats let an early lead get away late. New Hampshire (64-75) took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Brad Emaus singled and moved to third on a double by Moises Sierra. Emaus scored on a sacrifice fly by Al Quintana.

In the top of the third inning, the Fisher Cats loaded the bases against Portland starter Felix Doubront (8-7) with no outs on a walk to Jonathan Diaz, a single by Todd Donovan and a bunt single by Darin Mastroianni (3-for-5). Nick Gorneault grounded into a double play, but Diaz scored to make it 2-0.

In five innings of work, Perez allowed two hits and the unearned run. He walked five and struck out six and will finish the season with a 9-11 record, tied for the team lead in wins with Randy Boone.

The Sea Dogs tied the game in the bottom of the eighth inning. Jorge Jimenez doubled down the right-field off reliever Wil Ledezma. He moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a two-out infield single by Juan Apodaca.
