Firebirds Host Owen Sound Tonight at 7pm

The Firebirds return home to the Dort Federal Event Center tonight against the Owen Sound Attack. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. Saturday in Flint for Health Alliance Plan (HAP) night. Orange and white pom poms will be handed out to all fans in attendance and two lucky winners will receive a free Fitbit, courtesy of HAP.

Single game tickets for the Flint Firebirds 2016-17 season are $12 for Bronze, $15 for Silver, $19 for Gold and $25 for VIP seating. Prices are unchanged from last season and all seats are reserved / assigned seating. Fans can purchase tickets online here at ticketmaster.com.

Flint (1-1-0) will play Owen Sound (0-1-0) for the first time this season after dropping all four of their meetings last year. Similar to this campaign, the first match-up between the two clubs was the third game of the season last year on Sept. 30.

Players to Watch:

The Firebirds are coming off of a 4-2 defeat in Kitchener last night where rookie Ty Dellandrea scored his second goal of the season in as many games after a tic-tac-toe play. Caamano recorded his team-leading sixth point of the season. Additionally, Moore collected his fifth point of the season and was given third-star-honors. Defenseman Mathieu Henderson scored his first goal of the season in front of more than 7,000 fans last night, tying the contest 2-2 before the Rangers tallied twice more to win the game.

The Attack lost their season opener last night to the Sarnia Sting 3-2. Nick Suzuki and Matthew Struthers each posted a goal in the game, and Suzuki was awarded third-star-honors. Starting netminder Bradley Van Schubert made 27 saves in the contest. Owen Sound lost their top scorer Bryson Cianfrone this year, but have two of their top three scorers returning. Petrus Palmu was their second-leading scorer with 23 goals and 26 assists. Ethan Szypula is their third-leading scorer with 18 goals and 25 assists. Van Schubert is Owen Sound's new starting goaltender.

Saturday night's game between the Firebirds and the Owen Sound Attack will be broadcast live on 1330 AM WTRX Sports Xtra Radio throughout Mid-Michigan in addition to streaming online on the Sports Xtra Radio app here. Radio pregame coverage begins at 6:30 p.m.

The game will also be televised live on Rogers TV cable channel 53 in Owen Sound and on channel 461 for cable subscribers throughout the province of Ontario on the OHL Action Pak. Fans can watch the game online on ohllive.com or on the OHL Live app.
