Owen Sound, Ont. - Connor Hicks made 31 saves in a 4-0 loss to the Owen Sound Attack before a standing-room only crowd of more than 3,200 fans at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre Wednesday night. The evening was Firebirds' Equipment Manager, Mike Hildenbrand's 600th career game.

Cordell James opened the scoring for the Attack when he redirected Sean Durzi's shot on the power-play from the right side of the net to earn Owen Sound a 1-0 lead 4:51 into the first period.

The Attack doubled their lead 31 seconds later after Nick Pryce collected his own rebound off the boards and squeezed the puck past Hicks for his sixth goal of the season.

James extended Owen Sound's lead to 3-0 when he scored his 23rd goal of the season and second of the night after he corralled his own rebound in the crease and slid the puck into the net while parallel to the ice.

The Attack led 3-0 after the first period.

Owen Sound buried their fourth consecutive goal when Petrus Palmu netted his 31st goal of the season 2:23 into the second period on the power-play after he ripped a shot from the high-slot that beat Hicks glove-side to earn the Attack a 4-0 lead.

The Attack outshot the Firebirds 35-16. Flint was zero-for-five on the power-play while Owen Sound scored twice on four chances. Hicks made 31 saves on 35 shots. Owen Sound improved their record to 2-1 vs. Flint this season. The Firebirds will conclude the four game series on Mar. 4 in Owen Sound.

The Firebirds will play in-state rival, the Saginaw Spirit Friday, Mar. 17. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. at the Dow Event Center in Saginaw, Mich. The Firebirds hold a 4-1 series lead in the best-of-eight series of the Coors Light I-75 Divide Cup.

Next Home Game: The Flint Firebirds return home to the Dort Federal Event Center this Saturday, Feb. 18, for the second-annual "Flint Tropics Night." Puck drop for the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) contest is set for 7 p.m. against the Sarnia Sting. Inspired by the movie "Semi-Pro" starring Will Ferrell, the Firebirds will be wearing special themed jerseys, pants and socks throughout the game that are sure to impress everyone in attendance. Immediately following the game, there will be a live jersey auction, giving fans an opportunity to take home the game-worn Flint Tropics jersey of their choice. Proceeds will be donated to the Firebirds Charitable Foundation which benefits local youth organizations throughout Mid-Michigan.

The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive complimentary leis. Special video clips from the movie Semi Pro, tropical themed music, Flint Tropics merchandise and many more fun and entertaining events will take place throughout the night.
