Then, Sault Ste. Marie scored two minutes later, when Hayden Verbeek dished a pass to David Miller at the right face-off dot who one-timed it past Hicks glove-side to earn the Greyhounds a 4-0 lead.

The Firebirds cut the deficit to three when Everett Clark rifled a wrist-shot blocker-side past Joseph Raaymakers for his first goal of the playoffs at 6:58 of the second period. The Greyhounds led 4-1 after two periods of play.

Bobby MacIntyre extended Sault Ste. Marie's lead when he buried his first of the playoffs after he deked to his backhand on a breakaway and chipped the puck over the left shoulder of Hicks at 4:50 of the third period.

Kole Sherwood (Columbus Blue Jackets) scored Flint's final goal of the contest by one-timing Maurizio Colella's pass directly off the face-off, beating Raaymakers over his right shoulder for his third goal of the post-season on the power-play.
