Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Pensacola Ice Flyers (16-9-1) fell to the Fayetteville FireAntz (15-9-2) 2-0 on Friday night as the Ice Flyers couldn't solve Antz goalie Sean Bonar.

The first period proved to be a scoreless affair despite the Ice Flyers outshooting the FireAntz 11-7. The second period had a slightly different outcome. While the Ice Flyers outshot Fayetteville 11-6 in the second, it was a power play goal by the Antz's Benjamin Rubin with 4:25 left in the period that broke the tie.

The FireAntz pushed their lead to 2-0 thanks to another power play goal, this one scored by Derek Elliott with 8:53 left in the third. Even with Pensacola goalie John McLean pulled late in the third period for an extra attacker, the Ice Flyers couldn't find twine.

McLean faced 22 shots and stopped 20 of them as he picked up just his third loss of the season. His counterpart, Bonar, stopped all 34 of the Ice Flyers' shots for his second shutout of the season.

The Ice Flyers will take on these same FireAntz again tomorrow night inside the Crown Coliseum. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. Central. Watch Parties for the game will be held at New York Nick's downtown and the 9 Mile Rd. Beef 'O' Brady's location.
