Fire Forward Brian McBride Out 3-4 Months Due to Shoulder Sugery

CHICAGO, IL (July 17, 2009) - Chicago Fire forward Brian McBride underwent surgery today to repair a labral tear in his right shoulder. He is expected to miss the next 3-4 months of the season.

McBride has played in 27 league matches since joining the Fire, as well as appearing in all three postseason matches in the team's run to the 2008 Eastern Conference Final. The Arlington Heights native has played the full 90 minutes in all 16 of the Fire's MLS matches this season, scoring a team leading six goals and one assist through 1440 minutes played. McBride joined MLS in 1996 as member of the Columbus Crew before spending 4½ seasons with Fulham FC of the English Premier League from 2004-2008.
