FINAL Peoria 4 Beloit 1 (15 Innings) - Three-Run Blast in the 15th

May 19, 2017 - Midwest League (MWL1) - Beloit Sky Carp News Release

Andrew Knizner ended the series opener between Beloit and Peoria with a walk-off, three-run homer for the Chiefs to end the 15-inning game. Peoria threatened several times late in the ballgame by getting multiple runners on base in the final five innings. Despite only five totals runs were scored on Thursday, a combined 28 runners were left on the bases. The Snappers are now 1-3 in extra-inning games this season. The ballgame took just over four hours to complete as the longest game by time played by the Snappers this season.

JaVon Shelby delivered an RBI single to tie the game 1-1 with the Snappers down to their final out. He pushed Luke Persico across the plate, who led off the ninth with a triple. The Snappers could not capitalize on six walks in the first six innings issued by Peoria starter John Kilichowski. Beloit had 13 runners reach scoring position and left a season-high 18 men on the bases.

Starting pitcher Brandon Bailey was sharp in his return to the active roster. He threw three scoreless frames and struck out four Chiefs. Matt Milburn followed the tone set by Bailey with a career-high six innings and fanned four hitters of his own. Xavier Altamirano tossed three shutout innings, and Yordys Alejo had thrown a pair of innings without allowing a run before the home run was hit by Knizner.

Persico now has a team-best 12 multi-hit games and back-to-back three-hit games with a 3-for-7 performance. He also got on base twice due to fielding errors by Peoria. Shelby and Luis Barrera each had a pair of hits to extend hitting streaks to six games apiece.
