The Omaha Royals finally return to action at Rosenblatt Stadium on Friday, July 2 to begin a brief, two-game series against the Iowa Cubs. The homestand features the 26th annual Omaha World-Herald Independence Day Fireworks show, the final one ever held at the historic ballpark, on Saturday, July 3. Here's a rundown of the fun promotions on tap:
Friday, July 2, 7:05 p.m.: Welcome the Royals back to Omaha as they take on their long-time division rivals, the Iowa Cubs. The I-Cubs are managed by Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg. It's Werner Enterprises Friday Fireworks! It's also ALS Night: between the end of the game and the fireworks show the ALS Association will re-enact Lou Gehrig's famous speech. The night is also presented by KAT 103, KETV and The Reader.
Saturday, July 3, 6:35 p.m.: It's the 26th and final Independence Day Fireworks show at historic Rosenblatt Stadium! Come out and see the mother of all fireworks shows, presented by the Omaha World-Herald, the City of Omaha, Star 104.5 and the Omaha Royals. Stadium gates open at 4:30 p.m. The ZOOperstars will be performing between innings. Between the end of the game and the fireworks, Finest Hour will be performing in concert from a stage in the right-center field bleachers. The fireworks spectacular will be provided by J&M Displays. The music played during the fireworks show will be simulcast on Star 104.5. The night is also presented by KETV. A $3 shuttle service will be running from Westroads and Oakview to Rosenblatt between 3:45-8:00 p.m. and back to the malls at the end of the night.
