Fightins Comeback Sink Sea Dogs in Series Finale

Portland, Maine- The Reading Fightin Phils (15-11) scored 13 unanswered runs from the fifth inning on to rally back and beat the Portland Sea Dogs (15-10) 13-8 on Sunday afternoon.
Three out of the four games in the series, the Sea Dogs have scored five or more runs in one inning. That happened again on Sunday afternoon in the bottom of the third inning. Portland scored eight runs off Fightin Phils starter Brandon Leibrandt and reliever Joey DeNato (2-1). Leibrandt left the game with two outs in the inning and having faced nine batters in the inning. DeNato entered the game in relief of Leibrandt and faced four batters before allowing another run.
Portland with an 8-0 lead kept the Fightin Phils scoreless until the top of the fifth inning. Jiandido Tromp led off the inning with a double off Sea Dogs starter Trey Ball then advanced to third on an error by third baseman Rafael Devers. Jorge Flores brought Tromp in with a sacrifice fly to get the Fightin Phils on the scoreboard. Scott Kingery belted his seventh home run of the season off Ball to cut Portland's lead to 8-2. Andrew Pullin matched Kingery with his seventh home run of the season to lead off the seventh inning. Reading diminished Portland's lead to five runs. Ball left the game after the sixth inning.
Reading opened up the game in the top of the seventh inning. They scored seven runs in the inning to take a 10-8 lead over the Sea Dogs. Tromp led off the inning by hitting a double off Sea Dogs reliever Luis Ysla (0-2) then scored on a RBI single by Mitch Walding. Kingery and Carlos Tocci walked in consecutive at-bats to load the bases. Pullin proceeded to walk with the bases loaded to score Walding. Osmel Aguila hit a sacrifice fly then Kyle Martin hit a two-run double. Ysla left the game for Josh Smith. Smith walked Chace Numata then gave up a two-run double to Tromp. Smith struck out Walding to end the inning.
Mario Hollands pitched a scoreless inning in relief of DeNato then Reading added two more runs to take a 12-8 lead in the top of the eighth. Aguila hit a RBI single off Smith to score Kingery then Pullin scored on a fielding error by Nick Longhi. Jorge Flores added a RBI double in the top of the ninth off Smith to give Reading a 13-8 lead.
Miguel Nunez pitched scoreless eighth and ninth innings to finish out the game for the Fightin Phils. Tromp hit three doubles in a game for the first time in his career. The last Fightin Phil to hit three doubles in a game was Edgar Duran in 2014 against the Sea Dogs.
