Fighting Saints Announce Leadership Group

Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Jason Lammers, head coach and general manager of the Dubuque Fighting Saints, has officially announced the leadership group for the rest of the 2016-2017 season, effective immediately.

Dallas Gerads (Blaine, Minn./Mankato) has been named team captain. Colin Theisen (Monroe, Mich./Dartmouth) and Taylor Brierley (East Grand Forks, Minn./Union) will serve as permanent alternate captains. Jeff Baum (Colleyville, Texas/Providence) will serve as an alternate captain for road games and Cole Guttman (Los Angeles, Calif./St. Cloud State) will do the same for home games.

"We are confident in our leadership group, which has set the expectations of our team high, and we are sure that they will continue to do so for the rest of the way," Lammers said. "Dallas is a passionate hockey player who supports his teammates and keeps them accountable. He will be a tremendous asset to our team moving forward as the captain of the Fighting Saints."

Gerads, in his second season with the Fighting Saints, has scored 44 points and accumulated 230 penalty minutes in his 75-game USHL career. The 20-year-old Minnesotan forward has shown that he is willing to defuse tough situations with his mix of scoring touch and agitating grit.

"It's an honor to be captain of this team," Gerads said. "We're planning on doing the same thing we've been doing all year by making sure everyone is a leader, and we're working together towards one goal. Hopefully we can achieve that goal."

Theisen is in his second full season as a member of the Dubuque Fighting Saints. Brierley, Baum and Guttman are in their first full seasons with the Saints.

The newly minted group will lead the way for the Fighting Saints this weekend with two games on the road. First, the Lincoln Stars host the Saints on Friday, December 9 at the Ice Box starting at 7:35 p.m. Then, Dupaco Cowbell Cup rival Waterloo serves as the opponent, as the Saints take on the Black Hawks on Saturday, December 10 at 7:05 p.m. at Young Arena. Catch all of the action on Dubuque's Super Hits 106.1 FM, or on the USHL's streaming video provider, HockeyTV.
