CORNWALL - Danila Alistratov made 49 saves to backstop the Watertown Wolves to a 3-0 victory over the Nationals on Saturday night at the Civic Complex.

It was Cornwall's third straight Federal Hockey League loss in front of an announced gathering of 416.

Colin Macintosh scored twice for the Wolves, while former Nationals forward Jason Dolgy added a single.

The speedy MJ Graham had a game-high eight shots on goal for the Nationals, who outshot the Wolves 49-42.

Francis Dupuis was tagged with the loss in goal despite a 39-save performance.

Cornwall is back on the road Sunday afternoon when they visit Berlin to take on the River Drivers. FHL action begins at 2 p.m.

Titans Hold Off River Drivers, Win 3-2

By: Tommy Pecoraro

Tonight, the Titans and River Drivers battled out with much at stake, as both sides look to solidify their playoff position with a victory tonight. Up for grabs was the 2nd place position, and home ice for the 1st round of the Commissioner's Cup Playoffs.

The Titans would come out with an impressive opening 20 minutes, outshooting Berlin 18-9. Taylor Bourne would strike first, on the power play, from Junior Harris and Ryan Wilkinson, to give the Titans the lead at the 14:55 mark. However, the Titans would find penalty trouble, and down 5 on 3, the River Drivers found their mark, as Pavel Kubena would bury a shot with 2:08 left in the period to tie the game.

In the 2nd period, the shot margin was even bigger, as Danbury outshot Berlin 22-7, and Matt Kaludis was a big reason for Berlin staying close in this game as a result. With 1:49 remaining, and on the power play, PJ Hefferin was at the right place at the right time, deflecting a shot past the Berlin goalie to make it 2-1. In the midst of celebration, the gloves would fly, as John Scully and Stan Vlasov, who were battling in front of the net prior to the goal, danced while the Titans goal song played in the background. The period would conclude with some more fireworks after Nick Wright went after John Schiavo at the buzzer, as the benches emptied. Luckily, the officials kept things under control and sent both sides to the locker room before things got out of hand.

The 3rd period would be much tamer, and for the Titans, would go pretty well in their favor on the scoreboard. Bobby Bowden was a big help in the 3rd, as the Titans failed to get a single shot in the first 7 minutes of the period, and Bowden kept the Titans in front. Soon enough though, the Titans would strike again. While everyone was watching Ryan Wilkinson just barely avoid a huge center ice check from Vojtek Zemlicka, Dalton Jay would come up with the puck and shoot it over the shoulder of Kaludis to make it 3-1. The River Drivers would persist, however, and once again on the power play, they would make it 3-2 off a Tyler Howe deflection in front of the net. The River Drivers pulled the goalie late, but ultimately fell by a 3-2 count in what could be a playoff preview, as the first round begins in 3 weeks.

For the River Drivers, Pavel Kubena would tally a goal and assist, and Tyler Howe had the other goal. Matt Kaludis stopped 43 of 46 shots for the loss. For Danbury, Taylor Bourne and Dalton Jay had a goal and assist each. PJ Hefferin had an additional goal and Ryan Wilkinson earned 2 assists. Bobby Bowden stopped 23 of 25 shots for the victory. Attendance for tonight's game was 817, including a large group who came to watch the game all the way from Berlin.

The Titans conclude their weekend with a 5pm game tomorrow against Danville, who split their two games in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, with the Port Huron Prowlers. The River Drivers, meanwhile, also play at home tomorrow to take on the Cornwall Nationals, who lost tonight against the Watertown Wolves.

Prowlers Win in Shootout

Winston-Salem, NC - The Port Huron Prowlers defeated the Danville Dashers 3-2 in a shootout in game two of the neutral site series on Saturday night in Winston-Salem, NC.

The Prowlers opened the scoring 12:34 into the first period as Branden Parkhouse put a shot past Dashers netminder Louie George to put the Prowlers up by one. The score stayed that way through the first period.

The Prowlers ran into some penalty trouble through the second period but the Dashers were not able to capitalize on the powerplay chances and the score remained tied going into the third.

Danville scored at 2:26 of the final frame and the game was knotted at 1-1. The Dashers would then take the lead at the end of the frame with a goal by Andrew Harrison. Port Huron immediately answered back with a goal by Austin Daae to send the game into overtime.

After a back and forth overtime period, the game was headed to a shootout.

Martin Uhnak recorded the only goal in the shootout and delivered the Prowlers the win.

The attendance for this second FHL game played at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Annex Arena was 2,412.
