Fort Lauderdale, Florida (April 5, 2013) - For the third time in three seasons the Eddies start the new campaign against the Strikers in Fort Lauderdale. At Fort Lauderdale: (5 meetings): Strikers 4 wins, 0 ties, 1 loss - 11 GF/2 GA (+9 GD)
Last season: (4 meetings) Strikers 2 wins, 1 tie, 1 loss - 4 GF/3 GA (+1 GD)
Last meeting: Sep. 23, 2012 at Clarke Stadium - Edmonton 2-2 Strikers
Coaches quotes:
"The weather in Edmonton is one thing that we have no control over so a three-game road trip to start the season is simply something we have to deal with. The fact is a successful road trip to start the season will put us in good shape in the standings coming home. We've been preparing for this game for months and I'm confident that our guys will be ready for the Strikers on Saturday." - Edmonton coach Colin Miller.
"The fact that we play Edmonton first for the third time in a row doesn't really affect our preparation. They have a revamped roster and a new coach who is going to have them ready to play and compete at a high level, which we need to be prepared for. Playing at home the first game is nice, as we don't have to go through all the travel anxieties for the opening game. Our success at home the past two seasons is something we are proud of, but this is a new season and we must be ready in order to have another successful home record." - Strikers coach Daryl Shore
