FCC Hosts Indy Eleven NPSL; Travels to Charlotte

FC Cincinnati plays twice this week when the club hosts Indy Eleven NPSL Wed., May 18 at Nippert Stadium in the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Television and radio broadcasts will not be available for the match.

The U.S Open Cup is a single-elimination, 90-game tournament.

The first round of the tournament, which opened May 11, began with a 46-team field made up of 14 Open Division local qualifiers, 14 National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) teams and 18 Premier Development League (PDL) sides.

Should FCC advance, the club's next scheduled game will be June 1 against Tampa Bay Rowdies in Florida with the time to be determined.

FC CINCINNATI IN THE USL

FCC climbed to second in the USL after a 1-0 win over Pittsburgh Riverhounds last Saturday.

The battle for second will take place Saturday against Charlotte Independence (5-2-2) when FCC travels to North Carolina for a 7:00 p.m. match.

FCC is second in the Eastern Conference with 14 goal scored and fourth overall in the USL.

Nine FCC players have tallied at least one goal.

Sean Okoli sits at the top of the team's stats with three.

TOYOTA COACH JOHN HARKES SHOW

The Toyota Coach John Harkes show continues tonight at the Moerlein Lager House from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

The show, hosted by Tom Gelehter, airs live on ESPN 1530.

Joining Harkes on the show will be midfielder, Jimmy McLaughlin.

McLAUGHLIN EARNS NOD ON USL TEAM OF THE WEEK

Jimmy McLaughlin was named to the USL Team of the Week for the second time this season.

The midfielder had the lone goal in the team's win over Pittsburgh Riverhounds last Saturday.

McLaughlin has now scored in two consecutive games and is tied for second on the team with two goals.

ABOUT INDY ELEVEN NPSL

Indy Eleven NPSL is coached by John Simmonds and is in their first season as the official lower-league affiliate of the North American Soccer League (NASL) club of the same name.

Indy Eleven NPSL earned their place in the 2016 Open Cup after advancing to the NPSL National Semifinals in 2015.

FCC met the Indy Eleven parent club in a friendly last March with the teams playing to a 1-1 tie.

Indy Eleven will be providing a radio broadcast of the match tomorrow night.

BATTLE FOR QUEEN CITY CUP ENDS SATURDAY

FCC and Charlotte will play for the right to raise the Queen City Cup this Saturday at Ramblewood Soccer Complex.

The Orange and Blue took a 2-1 win at Nippert to open the home slate, Apr. 9.

Saturday could also see one team shake loose from the two-way tie for second place in the USL.

Independence is unbeaten in six straight contests and have tied the last two matches against Rochester and Wilmington.

Enzo Martinez and Caleb Calvert are tied for first on the team with three goals and an assist each for seven points.
