FC Montreal News Release

MONTREAL - After benefiting from a weekend off, FC Montreal will be back on the field against the Charlotte Independence, this Saturday at 3pm at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex.

It will be the first of a series of four home games in 12 days.

Montreal played its last game on July 16 against the Rhinos in Rochester. Aron Mkungilwa scored his first professional goal in a 3-1 loss.

"The break helped us to recharge the batteries, get more energy and be fresher mentally," said head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. "We are starting a series of seven games in a month with games every three or four days. We feel better. When Charlotte plays full strength, it's a really good team. We have to make them doubt and control the play."

In the first meeting with Charlotte earlier this season, FC Montreal lost 1-0, but controlled the game after giving up a goal in the 10th minute.

The Independence lost its last two games at home by a 2-1 score against Wilmington Hammerheads FC and New York Red Bulls II. The team is now in seventh position in the Eastern Conference with an 8-6-4 record. Jorge Herrera and Caleb Calvert are the team's top scorers with five goals each.

"It won't be easy because Charlotte is a good team that plays well with the ball, but I think that we are ready for the game and that we will give everything to have a good performance and get the three points," said forward Badreddine Boulajoul. "We play four straight games at home. We want to get as many points as possible."
