FC Kansas City News Release

KANSAS CITY- Despite temperatures hovering around the freezing point, FC Kansas City opened their preseason training schedule this morning at the Scheel's Overland Park Soccer Complex. Practicing today were 25 of the 28 players invited to the train with the team. Federation players Amy Rodriguez (USA), Becky Sauerbrunn (USA) and Desiree Scott (Canada) will join the team later this week.

Head Coach Vlatko Andonovski said, "You know I'm glad we got the first day in under our belt. Obviously the weather didn't want to cooperate with us, but we did what we had to do and had a pretty good first day. I'm happy with the girls, pretty excited about it and from now on we're just going to build on what we started today."

Forward Sydney Leroux was one of the players reporting to camp today as she returns to the field this season. Leroux joined the team prior to the 2016 campaign, but missed the entire season as she learned she was pregnant just before the season started.

Also featured in today's training was first round draft choice, Christine Gibbons. "I'm definitely meeting everyone for the first time so...I really like everyone so far and everyone has been so welcoming, so I'm really happy to be here."
