FC Edmonton News Release

EDMONTON, AB - FC Edmonton announced, July 28, the signing of Canadian youth international Ben Fisk. The 23-year-old midfielder joins the Eddies after playing professionally for two years in Spain. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Born and raised in Vancouver, B.C., Fisk rose to prominence after featuring with Vancouver Whitecaps FC's residency program. After going on loan to Charleston Battery following his tenure with the 'Caps, Fisk headed abroad to compete with Spanish football club Coruxo FC, scoring four goals in 24 appearances. In 2015, Fisk signed with Deportivo B of Tercera Divisiî"n, making 21 appearances.

"Ben had a terrific upbringing with the Whitecaps Residency," FC Edmonton head coach Colin Miller stated. "I think that has given him a firm foundation to develop the rest of his game. Any player that spends any time in Europe will come back a better player because they will understand what it takes to be a professional football player."

Fisk has featured with the Canadian national team program since 2011, making multiple appearances at the U-18, U-20 and U-23 levels, while also being called up to a pair of senior team camps.

"Speaking with Ben, it was a bit of a decision whether to go back to Europe or whether to come to the Eddies," Miller added. "I think it's a great sign that FC Edmonton can attract players like Fisk. I think because of his past experiences that he is more mature and more ready for the challenge of First Team football."

Fisk and FC Edmonton take on Carolina RailHawks, 2:00 p.m., July 31 at Clarke Field. The match will be broadcast on City TV in Edmonton, ESPN 3 in the United States and streamed live on www.nasl.com.
