Veteran defender agrees to new, one-year deal with FC Dallas
FRISCO, TEXAS - FC Dallas has signed veteran defender Maynor Figueroa to a new one-year contract, the club announced today.
Figueroa, 34, has spent the last two seasons with FC Dallas after joining the club via a trade with the Colorado Rapids on January 26, 2016. The Honduran played 28 league matches for FC Dallas that year, helping the club claim its first Supporters Shield and second Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in franchise history. The defender improved his numbers in 2017, scoring three goals and adding an assist. FC Dallas had a record of 9-6-11 when Figueroa was in the starting 11.
The versatile defender started 16 matches at left back and 10 at center back for FC Dallas in 2017. Figueroa is a veteran of two World Cups and the 2012 Olympics Games with Honduras. He also spent eight seasons in the Premier League with Wigan Athletic (2008 - 2013) and Hull City (2013 - 2015).
