FC Dallas Signs 15th Homegrown Player Paxton Pomykal

FRISCO, Texas- FC Dallas has signed its league-leading 15th Homegrown player, midfielder Paxton Pomykal, from the FC Dallas Academy.

Pomykal, 16 years and 266 days old, joins the first team as the second-youngest Homegrown player in club history behind Alejandro Zendejas, who was 16 years and 236 days old when he joined FC Dallas on Oct. 1, 2014.

Pomykal was named to the U.S. Soccer Development Academy's Central Conference Starting XI after helping the FC Dallas Academy claim both the U-16 and U-18 National Championships. The defensive midfielder made 15 appearances for the U-16 team last season, scoring eight goals for the 23-2-0 Frontier Division Champions before moving up to play with the U-18 team on April 9. Pomykal played in 10 matches for the U-18 side, scoring two goals.

A member of the U.S. U-18 National Team, Pomykal netted a goal in the 39th minute of a 4-2 win against the Czech Republic to help his team lift the 2016 Vaclav Jezek Tournament Championship on Aug. 20. He has also played in the 2015 Adidas Generation Cup in Germany and has trained with several top clubs in Europe.
