FRISCO, Texas (Friday, March 1) - FC Dallas midfielder Peter Luccin had successful surgery to reconstruct a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, the club announced today.

The procedure was performed on Thursday by FC Dallas team physician Dr. Jim Walter at the Texas Health Center for Diagnostics and Surgery in Plano, Texas. The procedure will require between six and eight months recovery time.

Luccin suffered the injury during FC Dallas' preseason in early February.

Luccin, 33, started his career in the youth system of French club AS Cannes before playing 118 matches in the French Ligue 1 between stints with Bordeaux, Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain. The defensive midfielder transferred into Spain's La Liga in 2001, where he started a total of 215 matches with Celta de Vigo, Atlético Madrid, Real Zaragoza and Racing Santander.

Luccin and defender Ugo Ihemelu (concussion symptoms) have both been placed on injured reserve.
