HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Feb. 11, 2003) – Devin Brown scored a team-high 24 points and Terrell McIntyre hit a pair of clutch 3-pointers down the stretch as Fayetteville held off Huntsville for a 92-85 NBDL victory here Tuesday afternoon at the Von Braun Center.

Joining Brown in double figures for the Patriots was McIntyre with 16 points, while Jameel Watkins and Bryan Lucas each poured in 10.

The league-leading Patriots increased their lead to one game over Mobile with the win as they improved to 21-13 on the season. Fayetteville snapped Huntsville’s two-game win streak in the process as the Flight fell to 17-18.

Jermaine Walker got his NBDL career-best 24 points to pace the Flight, while Demetric Shaw added 14 points off the bench and A.J. Guyton added 12.

"This was a hard fought game by both teams," Patriot coach Jeff Capel said. "We made a good adjustment with the zone and we just made some big shots down at the end."

After building a 16-point third quarter lead, the Flight began to chip away at the Fayetteville margin and trailed by just six at 64-58 at the end of third period.

Walker scored seven points in a 13-6 run to start the final quarter and give the Flight their first lead since early in the opening period at 71-70. That lead was short-lived as Fayetteville hit 8-of-13 shots in the final period (61.5 percent) and quickly regained the advantage behind a Jason Capel 3-pointer and a Brown layup.

"I think we can compete with them," Flight coach Ralph Lewis said. "You just can’t have breakdowns, especially in key situations. We had about three or four them. One time we played defensively really well and Jason Capel hits a 3-pointer with one second on the shot clock."

The Flight again chipped the margin down to one at 78-77, but McIntyre hit a pair of clutch 3-pointer to go along with another bucket as time ran down to help keep Fayetteville’s cushion comfortable.

Despite getting outrebounded 46-28, the Patriots converted 33-of-66 shots for 50 percent from the floor and tallied 22 assists. They also forced 19 Flight turnovers that turned into 25 points for the visitors.
