Fargo Force Pick Up Forward Austin Ortega In Trade With Indiana

FARGO, ND - The Fargo Force have picked up forward Austin Ortega in a trade with the Indiana Ice this afternoon. In trade, the Force gave draft picks for the 2013 USHL Drafts and future considerations.

Ortega hails from Escondido, CA and has played in 44 games so far this year for the Ice posting 42 points with 24 goals and 18 assists. He currently sits 12th overall in scoring in the USHL right behind current forwards Brendan Harms (44 points) and Dominic Toninato (43 points) and third overall in goals scored with 24. The forward is committed to play college hockey at the University of Nebraska-Omaha beginning in the fall of 2013.

Ortega played youth hockey for the Colorado Thunderbirds, which is the same team that Fargo Force draft pick Mikey Eyssimont (selected in the 7th round of the 2012 USHL Entry Draft) currently plays for. Eyssimont leads the Thunderbirds in scoring with 85 points in 38 games played.

The Fargo Force are on the road this weekend playing 3 games and will return to Fargo February 15-16 for a weekend series against the Waterloo Black Hawks.
