Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas, Nev. - The Las Vegas Wranglers(r) announced today that they have agreed to terms with goalie Joe Fallon for the 2011-12 season.

Fallon, 26, first played for the Wranglers in the 2010-11 season. With a 18-8-1 record and 0.916 save percentage, he earned a call-up to the AHL's San Antonio Rampage for 13 games and to the NHL's Phoenix Coyotes for their 2011 Stanley Cup playoff run. Fallon was named ECHL Goaltender of the Week (week ending January 23) while in Las Vegas as well.

"I want us to be on top of the division and, as a goalie, just try to go out there and win as many games as I can," said Fallon. "Hopefully the stats will fall into place once we have our team rolling."

The 6'3, 190-pound goalie split the 2009-10 season between the AHL's Rockford IceHogs and Peoria Rivermen. While in Rockford, Fallon went 15-10-1 with a 0.912 save percentage, and his goals-against average was 3.50 in Peoria. Fallon played for the Fresno Falcons (ECHL), Gwinnett Gladiators (ECHL) and the IceHogs in 2008-09, and had save percentages over 0.900 with each team.

Before turning professional in 2008, the Bemidji, Minn. native, spent four seasons (2004-08) at the University of Vermont. During his junior year (2006-07), Fallon secured a UVM single-season record with a 1.86 goals-against average, which ranked second best in the nation and earned him a Hobey Baker Award nomination. Fallon finished his career at UVM as the all-time leader in goals-against average (2.05), save percentage (.916) and shutouts (20), leaving him ranked second all-time in NCAA Division I for shutouts and 11th all-time for goals-against average.

"Joe Fallon is an extremely talented goaltender that's had success at the AHL level," said General Manager and Head Coach Ryan Mougenel. "Joe proved last year that he was an elite goalie and a major reason why we had success. Great teams always have one common denominator, and it's that they have great goaltending. Joe Fallon gives us a chance to win every night."

The Wranglers host Opening Night, billed as "The Last Professional Hockey Game on Earth," on Friday, Oct. 21 at 7:05 p.m. against Ontario Reign. 2011-12 season seat packages, starting at $30, are on sale now at 702-471-PUCK. The Wranglers play all 36 regular season home games at the Orleans Arena, located next to the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Ave.
