Springfield, MA - The Springfield Falcons, proud members of the American Hockey League, announced today they have signed forward Jason Morgan to a Professional Tryout Agreement (PTO). Morgan is entering his 14th professional season and is expected to join the Falcons on Friday.
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound native of St. John's, Newfoundland is back for his third separate stint with the Falcons. Morgan has played in 120 career games in Springfield splitting both the 1997-98 and 1998-99 campaigns with the Falcons, followed by playing in 16 games with Springfield during the 2000-01 season.
Morgan is a veteran of 580 career AHL games splitting time between Springfield, Hamilton, Saint John, Lowell, Norfolk, Houston, and Hershey. He set a career high in goals with Hershey during the 2007-08 campaign scoring 19 markers with the Bears. Morgan made his AHL debut while with the Falcons during the 1997-98 season.
Morgan has also appeared in 44 career NHL games recording two goals and five assists for seven points and 18 penalty minutes splitting time between Los Angeles, Calgary, Nashville, Chicago and Minnesota. He was originally drafted by Los Angeles in the fifth round (118th overall) in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.
The Falcons return to action this weekend when they head to Providence on Friday and Hershey on Saturday. Springfield returns home on Wednesday, November 25 when they host the Worcester Sharks at the MassMutual Center starting at 7 pm.
