Falcons Set To Host The Devils Tonight

The Springfield Falcons (8-5-3-1, 20 points) and Lowell Devils (10-5-3-0, 23 points) will meet for the fourth time this season. These two teams will play each other four more times this year. The Falcons are 1-0-1-1 in the previous three meetings with the Devils, winning on the road in Lowell and going to overtime twice at home.

The most recent meeting between the teams was on October 31 in Springfield, where the Devils defeated the Falcons 3-2 in overtime on a Tim Sestito game-winning goal. Scoring the other two goals for Lowell were Nick Palmieri and Matt Taormina. Falcons had goals by Charles Linglet and Ryan Potulny. Devan Dubnyk played well in goal for the Falcons stopping 38 of 41 shots. Leading Springfield this season in three games against Lowell are Chris Minard (4 G) and Linglet (1 G, 3 A).

Lowell has had a very balanced attack in the three games against the Falcons, with seven players recording two points each. The next game between Lowell and Springfield will be on December 15 in Lowell.

Charles Linglet leads the Falcons and is tied for third in the AHL with 20 points (7 G, 13 A). Linglet also leads Springfield with a +9 rating in 17 games played. The leading goal scorer for the Falcons is Chris Minard with nine goals in 11 games. Falcons forward Kip Brennan is second in the AHL and leads Springfield with 94 PIM this season. Falcons goaltender, Devan Dubnyk, has posted a 2.74 GAA and.926 save percentage in 15 games this season. Dubnyk leads all AHL goaltenders in minutes played (897) and saves (510).

The Lowell Devils are led by Vladimir Zharkov (4 G, 13 A, 17 P), Tyler Eckford (5 G, 10 A, 15 P), and Ben Walter (6 G, 9 A, 15 P). The leading goal scorer for Lowell is Tim Sestito with seven goals, but he is currently on recall to the NHL's New Jersey Devils. Goalie Mike McKenna leads Lowell goaltenders with a 2.41 GAA and.921 save percentage in nine games this season.

Springfield is 5-1-3-1 in their last 10 games and they went 1-0-1-0 this past weekend in two home games. Last Friday, Springfield lost in overtime to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 3-2 before Sunday's 6-2 win over the Albany River Rats. The Falcons have received at least one point in each one of their eight home games (5-0-2-1). Springfield is currently tied for third with the Hartford Wolf Pack in the Atlantic Division. The next game for the Falcons will be on Friday in Providence, RI as they take on the Bruins. Springfield will end the week in Hershey, PA against the 2009 Calder Cup Champion Bears on Saturday.

Lowell comes into tonight's game on a five-game winning streak, defeating Providence (2), Worcester (2), and Bridgeport. In those five games, Lowell has outscored their opponents 23-9. The Devils have an impressive 5-2-3-0 road record this season, including two wins in Springfield. This past weekend, Lowell was victorious in two home games beating Providence 5-3 and Worcester 5-1. Lowell's 10-5-3-0 record places them alone in second place in the Atlantic Division, only one point behind division leading Manchester. Lowell will host the Norfolk Admirals on Friday and Manchester Monarchs Saturday to finish the week.

Falcons Transactions: 11-11-09- The Springfield Falcons announced that they have recalled Jamie Bates from their ECHL affiliate, Stockton Thunder. Bates made his Falcons debut last Sunday against Albany. Bates has played in 11 games for Stockton this year and has averaged a-point-a-game collecting six goals and five assists for 11 points and two penalty minutes.

11-14-09- The NHL's Edmonton Oilers have recalled Falcons defenseman and captain Dean Arsene. Arsene was called up for the first time in his nine-year pro career. Arsene has recorded two assists and 31 PIM with a plus/minus of +4 in 16 games played for Springfield this season. Arsene made his NHL debut last Monday in Columbus against the Blue Jackets.

11-17-09- The Springfield Falcons announced they have recalled defenseman Bryan Young from their ECHL affiliate, the Stockton Thunder. Young has played in 14 games with Stockton this year and has collected no points and 23 penalty minutes.

Devils Transactions: 11-11-09- The Lowell Devils announced that they have recalled two players from their ECHL affiliate, Trenton Devils. Joining Lowell are defenseman Chris Murray and forward Jeff Prough. Each has played in three games since joining Lowell. Murray has one goal and a +1 record. Prough has recorded two points in the three games with one goal and one assist. Prough has a +2 rating in those three games.

11-11-09- The NHL's New Jersey Devils have recalled Lowell's defenseman Matt Corrente. Corrente has played in 15 games for Lowell recording three goals, eight assists, 11 points, and 23 PIM.

Falcons Team and Player Notes:

* The Falcons are second in the AHL in home power play percentage at 31.3%, only trailing Hartford. Springfield is fourth overall in power play in the AHL at 23.3%.

* Colton Fretter is currently on a four-game scoring streak, recording five assists and one goal. Fretter is also on a seven-game home scoring streak.

* Chad Wiseman is currently on a four-game scoring streak with four goals and three assists in that span.

* During Sunday's 6-2 win over Albany on Sunday, 13 of the Falcons' 18 active skaters recorded at least one point.

Devils Team and Player Notes:

* The Devils are 8-1-1-0 when scoring the first goal of the game.

* Lowell's rookie Matt Taormina is tied with Portland's Tyler Ennis for most points among AHL rookies with 14 points. Taormina also leads all AHL rookies in power play points with eight points this season.

* Lowell has the AHL's fourth best road power play record with a 24.5% scoring rate.

* The Devils average 3.67 goals per game, placing them first in the American Hockey League.

* Tyler Eckford is currently on a four-game assist streak dating back to November 8.
