The Falcons return to the MassMutual Center for home preseason contests this Friday against the Worcester Sharks and Saturday versus the Bruins, with both contests beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Jamie Tardif took advantage of a Springfield turnover 4:15 into the opening period, stealing the puck in the left circle and lifting it past Falcons netminder Curtis McElhinney to give Providence a 1-0 lead.

Matthew Pistilli buried a centering feed from Kelsey Wilson on a two-on-one rush at 13:28, extending Providence's advantage to 3-0.

With the Bruins up a man in the third period, Justin Florek snapped a puck past the glove of Springfield's Mike Clemente, who replaced McElhinney in net to begin the final frame, from the left circle to strengthen Providence's grip to 4-0 at 3:34.

Patrick Kennedy snatched a pass from Dan Gendur on the doorstep and flipped the puck past Providence goaltender Niklas Svedberg at 17:11 of the last stanza, giving the Falcons their first and only goal of the outing and making the score 4-1

McElhinney took the loss for Springfield, setting aside 18 of 21 shots through 40 minutes of play. Mike Hutchinson, who started the game for Providence and played until just past the midway point of the contest, earned the win with 12 saves on 12 shots.
