Windsor Express News Release

(WINDSOR, ON) - The Windsor Express (17-13) won their second home game in a row, in a close contest with the Niagara River Lions (12-19). The Express finished with a victory, 109-102.

A lackluster first quarter gave fans little to cheer about. After an offensive mishap a loose ball that was nearly turned over found the hands of Brandon Robinson who shovelled it the length of the court to Kirk Williams Jr who finished with the two-handed jam. Windsor had a 24-20 deficit after one quarter of play.

The Express used the three ball to get back into the game in the second quarter. The prettiest of the half three pointer rolled off the fingertips of Alex "Superman" Johnson after he received the behind the back bounce pass from Commons. The Express finished the first half with a 50-45 lead.

After shooting 70 per cent from the charity stripe in the first half, the River Lions would utilize their foul shots in the third quarter. Shaquille Keith finished off the quarter with an exclamation mark rushing down the floor on the fast break and punishing the rim with a tomahawk slam. Windsor was still on top after three quarters, leading 80-72.

The fourth quarter was a tightly contested battle. With the fate of the game hanging in the balance, Tony Bennett was resilient on the boards. Trying to hold the lead as the game was winding down newcomer Sherron Collins introduced his abilities to the fans. Gliding across the half court line, Collins shook his defender with a nasty crossover that sent him to the floor. Collins then put the dagger in the hearts of the River Lions with a corner three, sealing the victory, 109-102.

Kirk Williams Jr led the Express in scoring with 19 points. Tony Bennett added 17 points, and grabbed 8 boards.

Shaquille Keith came off the bench and put up 11 points.

Logan Stutz put up a game high 22 points, and was the leading scorer for the River Lions. Samuel Muldrow added 18 points of his own.

The Windsor Express will look for their third straight win at home, on Saturday March 26th when they host the London Lightning for a 7:30pm game start.

Season tickets, flex packs, and single game tickets are on sale now.
