Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Round Rock Express (7-6) and Omaha Storm Chasers (6-6) traded blows for 11 innings, but it was the E-Train collecting a 5-4 win after a bases-loaded wild pitch by Storm Chasers' RHP Yender Caramo sent SS Doug Bernier flying home.

Caramo (0-1, 6.48) suffered the loss after the ill-fated mistake. He gave up one run on two hits and a walk while striking out one in 1.1 innings of relief. E-Train RHP Preston Claiborne (1-0, 1.50) collected the win after a dominant 10th and 11th inning of relief. He gave up just one walk in an otherwise perfect outing.

Both teams' starters were impressive as Round Rock's RHP Dillon Gee (0-2, 5.40) allowed only one run on seven hits while striking out five in five innings of work. Omaha's RHP Josh Staumont (1-1, 6.75) surrendered two runs, only one of which was earned, on five hits in five frames.

Omaha broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning. DH Peter O'Brien led off with a double before taking third base on a Bubba Starling groundout. C Cam Gallagher drove home his designated hitter with a two-out single to right field.

The Express responded with a two-run fifth inning. CF Cesar Puello kicked off the rally with a walk to open the frame. After stealing second base and advancing to third on a Luis Marte groundout, 3B Drew Robinson singled to knot the game at one. A fielding error by Omaha 3B Garin Cecchini in the next plate appearance allowed Bernier to reach first base safely while Robinson moved to second. A Jared Hoying fielder's choice sent Robinson home to give Round Rock their first lead of the night.

The E-Train lead proved to be fleeting as the visitors scored in the very next inning to tie the game at two. With RHP Tanner Scheppers on to pitch, Starling and Cecchini both worked walks to put two men aboard for 2B Corey Toups. The infielder delivered with an RBI single that sent Starling flying around the bases.

Omaha took the lead in the seventh thanks to an O'Brien home run off Express reliever RHP Brady Dragmire. Round Rock stormed back in the bottom of the inning. Bernier singled before DH Travis Snider collected a walk. Hoying then stepped up again, lining a two-run double to the deepest depth of the right field corner, sending both runners home.

The visitors leveled things once again in the eighth. Back-to-back two-out walks by Toups and LF Billy Burns set up SS Ramon Torres. The infielder lined a single to shallow center field while Toups sprinted home with his team's fourth run of the night.

The 11th inning began with a Preston Beck single before Puello doubled to put two runners in scoring position. After intentionally walking Robinson to load the bases, Caramo lost control of a 2-1 pitch, sending the offering crashing into the backstop as Bernier raced home with the game-winning run.

Round Rock and Omaha continue their series on Wednesday morning with a special 11:35 a.m. Education Day first pitch. E-Train RHP Austin Bibens-Dirkx (0-0, 1.86) is scheduled to face off against Omaha RHP Jake Junis (0-0, 2.84).
