Express Defeat River Lions, 108-103

(WINDSOR, ON) - The Windsor Express (6-6) were back at The WFCU Centre for their second game in a row, against the Niagara River Lions (3-9). The Express were able to finish with a win, despite a fourth quarter comeback from the River Lions, 108-103.

The first quarter started off with Maurice Bolden knocking down both free throws to give the Express an early lead. However, the River Lions were able to come back, and go on an 8-0 run, and lead 18-15 with about two minutes left. Brandon Robinson connected with Shaquille Keith at the end of the quarter to give the Express a 23-21 lead.

The second quarter saw leads switch back and forth between Windsor and Niagara. Midway through the quarter, Kirk Williams Jr was able to tie the score at 34-34 after hitting both of his free throws. Windsor was able to get their momentum back, and go into halftime with a 10 point lead, 53-43.

Brandon Robinson made his presence felt in the third quarter by putting up 6 points in the first few minutes to keep the Express in the lead. Russ Conley hit a buzzer beater, but the Express finished the quarter with a 74-63 advantage.

The fourth quarter saw Niagara make a comeback, and bring it within one point, 78-77, after Adam Blazek hit back to back three pointers. Windsor did not allow Niagara to take the lead during the quarter. Brandon Robinson hit a pair of free throws with nine seconds left in the game, and Windsor was able to pick up the win, 108-103.

Brandon Robinson put up a game high 27 points, and added 5 steals in the win. Tony Bennett put up 19 points, and Chris Commons had 17 points of his own.

Maurice Bolden had a double double performance, putting up 10 points and 10 boards.

Adam Blazek led the River Lions in scoring with 22 points, and Billy Rush added 20 points of his own.

The Windsor Express will head on the road for a rematch with the Niagara River Lions for a 7:00pm game start on Thursday, January 28th. The Express will be back at The WFCU Centre the next day, on Friday, January 29th to host the Island Storm for a 7:30pm game start.

The Windsor Express will be back at Caesars Windsor on Wednesday, February 3rd for the third annual 'Clash at the Colosseum', and will take on 401 Rivals, the London Lightning. This is an all ages event.
