Explorers Win-Streak Ends with Loss in Fargo

Fargo, ND- The Sioux City Explorers six game win streak ended Friday night, falling to the RedHawks with a 5-1 score in Fargo.
Fargo-Moorhead quickly jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Keury De La Cruz doubled to score the first run, and Dustin Geiger knocked in a run with an RBI single.
Sioux City recorded their first run in the third inning. X's left fielder Derrick Robinson helped score the runner at third base with an RBI single, cutting the lead down to 2-1.
The RedHawks tacked on three more runs in the fifth. Josh Mazzola smashed a two-run homer for the first two runs in the inning. RedHawks shortstop Bryan Johns helped extend their lead to four runs with an RBI double later in the inning.
In the top of the ninth, RedHawks closer, Will Mathis went 1-2-3 to end the inning and clinch the victory for Fargo-Moorhead.
RedHawks starter Brian Ernst (1-0) received the victory for Fargo-Moorhead, going eight solid innings with only one run allowed while striking out seven on the night.
Explorers right-hander Graham Johnson (5-3) was charged with the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) in 5.2 innings pitched.
