EVERETT, Wash. - Courtesy of sensational goaltending by Carter Hart, the Everett were able to keep the Seattle Thunderbirds off the score sheet and get a critical win against their rival, 3-0 before a crowd of 4,434 at XFINITY Arena on Wednesday. ??
With the Silvertips' win this evening, they are now 2-0-0 against the Thunderbirds so far this season, 5-1-2 for the month of November and are 13-1-3 when scoring first this season.
Matt Fontenye earned the game winning goal, Riley Sutter had a multi-point game, including an assist on the game winning goal and Kevin Davis made a critical move to set up the game-winning goal.??
Early into the game, Everett took a bench minor that caused Seattle to get the first power play and several scoring chances, all stopped as Carter Hart stood tall. Minutes later, Fontenye started off the scoring with a power play goal 5:57 into the first period. Riley Sutter scored an insurance goal at 14:46 in the first with a beautiful feed from Sean Richards. ??
Carter Hart was tested throughout the game due to continued pressure from the Thunderbirds. Hart made eight key saves that kept the T-Birds off of the scoresheet in the second period.
As Seattle continued to push throughout the third period, Orrin Centazzo managed to slip past Seattle's defense and score an unassisted goal at 2:04 of the third period, giving the Silvertips a three-goal lead. Thanks to a solid performance by Hart with 37 saves total, he managed to keep the T-Birds off the scoresheet for the entirety of the game and record his 12th career shutout.
Rylan Toth made 6 saves for Seattle before being relieved by Matt Berlin, who made 15 saves. ??
The Silvertips continue their home stand with a game against Edmonton on Friday, November 25 at 7:35PM PT (Fox Sports 1380 / WHL Live) at XFINITY Arena in Everett.??
