Everblades Trade Ferguson For Guthrie

ESTERO, FL--Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Malcolm Cameron announced today that the rights to forward Simon Ferguson have been traded to the Utah Grizzlies in exchange for right winger Shea Guthrie. Additionally, goalie Barry Brust has been recalled by the Houston Aeros (AHL).

The rights to forward Simon Ferguson were traded to the Utah Grizzlies. Ferguson has not appeared in an Everblades sweater this season. Instead, he has been with the Syracuse Crunch on a PTO that was signed November 6, 2009. The British Columbia native has played 13 games with the Crunch and recorded three assists.

Shea Guthrie joins the Everblades immediately with hopes of bolstering the Florida offense that has been hindered by call ups and injuries. The 6-foot, 205-pound winger from Almonte, ON has tallied 7 goals and 6 assists over 22 games with the Grizzlies so far this season.

In an unrelated transaction for the 'Blades goalie Barry Brust has been recalled to the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League. Brust who was assigned to the Florida Everblades on November 11, 2009, has appeared in 9 games. He has a record of 3-2-2 with 2.91 goals against average and a.906 save percentage.
