Everblades Rally for 2-1 Shootout Victory

ESTERO, FL- Matt Marquardt shot the game-winning goal in the overtime shootout, while Anthony Peters saved 27 out of 28 shots to give the Florida Everblades the 2-1 victory over the Elmira Jackals Friday night at Germain Arena.

In the opening period the Everblades dominated the Jackals in shots on goal 17-5, however, it was the Jackals who scored the opening goal of the night.

16:40 into the first, Allan McPherson received the puck in the right side of the Everblades' offensive zone, curled left to the high slot and wristed a shot past Anthony Peters to give the Jackals the 1-0 lead heading into the second period.

After a scoreless second period that saw the Everblades increase their shot total to 29, the 'Blades were finally able to tie the game up in the final period of play.

With 1:36 left in the third, Justin Agosta riffled a shot past C.J. Motte to tie the game up at one before heading into overtime.

I** () n the 3-on-3 overtime the Motte and Peters continued their stellar goaltending and forced the game to a shootout.

Once in the shootout Anthony Peters saved all three of the shots faced while Matt Marquardt put in the only goal of the shootout to give the Everblades the victory 2-1.

Anthony Peters took home the victory saving 27 out of 28 shots faced, while C.J. Motte took the loss allowing one goal on 47 shots faced and allowing the lone goal in the shootout.

The Everblades and Jackals will do battle again Saturday (Feb 13) at Germain Arena. Game time is set at 7:00 p.m. Promotional details listed below. Upcoming Home Games
