Eugene Emeralds Announce 2016 Season Schedule

EUGENE, OR - As the Eugene Emeralds' new affiliate, the Chicago Cubs, gear up for their first post season appearance since 2008, the Emeralds staff are thrilled to announce the release of the 2016 schedule! The team welcomes fans back to PK Park on June 17 for Opening Day as the team faces off against the Boise Hawks.

The team will then travel to Hillsboro to take on the reigning Northwest League champs before coming back home for a five game series against Spokane starting on June 23. The Ems will close out June on the road in Boise.

The Ems will be home for 16 days in August, their longest stretch in any month, but it will also feature four off days for the club. After the All-Star game, that will be held in Ogden against the Pioneer League, the Ems take on Vancouver at home to renew an old West Division rivalry starting August 4. The Ems will also have their only eight game home stand of the season from August 17-24 when the Boise Hawks and Everett AquaSox come to the Emerald Valley. The team will finish the month against Tri-City before finishing the season on the road in Hillsboro on September 5. You can find the full schedule here .

Celebrating 61 years in 2016, the Emeralds also are the longest tenured and only founding member remaining in the Northwest League. Despite missing out on the play offs by a game and breaking even with a record of 38-38 on the year, the Ems broke an franchise attendance record at PK Park with over 120,000 fans and hope to break it again in 2016!

The Cubs have the number one farm system in baseball and the Emeralds had six of the top 30 prospects in the Cubs organization spend time in Eugene. In 2015, six of the top 30 Cubs prospects spent time in Eugene including Ian Happ, Donnie Dewees and Eloy Jimenez.
