Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons announced on Thursday that defenseman Tim Erixon has been assigned to the club by its NHL affiliate, the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Erixon, who was recalled by Columbus from Springfield for its training camp on Sunday, leads Falcon defensemen with 24 points, 20 assists, and a career-high four goals. The second-year pro was acquired by Columbus from the New York Rangers this summer as part of a four-player trade. Erixon garnered two assists in 18 games with the Rangers last year while spending most of the season with Connecticut, leading all Whale defensemen as a rookie with 30 assists and tying for first among the club's blueliners with 33 points in 52 contests. A native of Port Chester, N.Y., Erixon was selected by the Calgary Flames in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
The Falcons, who have an eight-point lead in the Northeast Division, return home to host the Connecticut Whale on Friday and the Albany Devils on Saturday at the MassMutual Center.

The grand prize includes two round-trip airline tickets, a two-night hotel stay, and two tickets to two Red Sox spring training games.
