ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...

Tonight, the SeaWolves look to make it three straight wins as they take the field in the middle game of a three-game series against the Altoona Curve (Pittsburgh Pirates) at Jerry Uht Park. Last night, Erie ended a two-game losing skid to the Curve with a 6-2 win in the series opener, improving to 11-5 against Altoona this season. A win in either of the final two games of the series will give the Howlers their fifth consecutive win. Erie is 9-4 in its last 13 games. The club is alone in second place in the EL South, seven games behind first place Akron and a game ahead of third place Reading...Erie is in a stretch of 14 straight and 20 out of 24 games against teams with sub-.500 records...Last night's win also put Erie back at a season-best 11-games over .500. It is the third time Erie has been 11-games over the .500 mark and the first since May 15 when they were 22-11. A win tonight would put Erie a season-high 12-games over .500...Erie has the most home wins, 25, of any Eastern League club...The ‘Wolves are hitting .283 against Altoona this season. Deik Scram is hitting .364 against the Curve with eight RBI. Erie is averaging just over six runs per game against Altoona this season...Righty Luis Marte takes the mound for the ‘Wolves making his 13th start of the season and third against Altoona. He is 1-1 against the Curve. Marte looks to even his record to .500. Marte was last at the .500 mark on May 2 following a 15-1 win over the Curve...Righty Derek Hankins takes the mound for Altoona making his sixth appearance and first start of the season. He took a loss in relief against Connecticut in his last outing allowing three runs, two earned, on five hits with six K's.

TODAY'S NOTABLES -

- Erie leads the season series over Alroona 11-5. The SeaWolves and Curve meet 25 times in 2009.

- Erie's pitching staff is sixth in the league with a 3.70 team ERA. Altoona is 10th in the league with a 4.30 team ERA.

- Erie is fourth in the league with a .266 team batting average. Altoona is last in the league, hitting .234 as a team.

- The SeaWolves lead the league with 76 home runs and 353 runs scored.

- Ryan Strieby has been placed on the seven-day disabled list with a sore left wrist. Retroactive to June 22.

- 1B Ron Borquin has been added to the Erie roster and will join the club on Thursday.

- Brennan Boesch is tied for third in the league with 13 home runs, is tied for fifth with 46 RBI and is second with 33 extra-base hits.

- The ‘Wolves have turned 77 double plays which is third-most in the EL. Altoona leads the league with 89 double plays turned.

- Erie pitchers have walked 202 hitters this season which is the third-fewest walks allowed by a team in the league.

- The ‘Wolves are a game over .500 in June (11-10). It is the first time Erie has been over .500 in the month.

- Fans can vote online at www.seawolves.com for the 2009 EL All-Star Game. Fan voting ends Sunday, June 28. Each team will have one position player and one pitcher via fan selection.
